737 Trim Wheels
The Boeing 737 trim wheels are located either side of the throttle (disc shaped objects), you may have seen them spinning around if you watch some 737 cockpit videos or DVD’s. These trim wheels seem to be a pet hate of Boeing 737 pilots as they move very quickly and can pack quite a punch so keep your legs well away from them. The trim wheel is activated by an electric trim switch located on the both control yokes.
The Boeing 737 trim wheels purpose is to alert the crew that the trim on the elevator outside the aircraft is moving. There is a white stripe on each trim wheel that oppose each other at about 60 degrees this line makes the trim wheel motion clearly visible.
You may notice the sping like object inserted into the trim wheel ( there is one on both trim wheels) This is infact a pull out handle that pulls out from the edge furthest away from the trim wheel outside. The handle pulls out at 90 degrees. This handle allows you to manually turn the trim the wheel once the Stab Trim Cutt Out is acivated.
